Discover the Historium
In the Historium Story, we take you on a journey back in time to medieval Bruges. You will experience a wonderful love story while walking through seven historical themed rooms featuring film, sets, and special effects. With the audio guide, you will hear all about the Golden Age of Bruges and imagine yourself back in the time of Jan van Eyck. The Historium is located on the Market Square, where the Waterhalle once stood. This was the central warehouse for shipping in the flourishing commercial city. The location has been reconstructed within the attraction, adding an extra dimension to your visit. This ticket also grants you access to the Historium Exhibition (including the exhibition ‘The Wondrous Waterhalle’) and the panoramic terrace.
Historium Virtual Reality
Anyone wishing to experience virtual reality can enjoy wonderful experiences at the Historium. Start your visit with a virtual flight over medieval Bruges: with the Historium Virtual Reality, you will take an impressive journey through the historic city. You will experience this time travel using VR goggles within the Historium itself.
New 2025: Exhibition 'The Wondrous Waterhalle'
In our new exhibition, ‘The Wondrous Waterhalle’, we take you to the heart of medieval Bruges. You will dive deep into the history of the legendary Waterhalle, a monumental building that was once the city’s beating commercial heart.
Historium Tower
For an even more impressive view of the Bruges Market Square and the Belfry, you can climb the Historium Tower, a neo-Gothic tower with a total height of 35 meters. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking 360° view of the most important buildings in Bruges. This ticket also grants you access to the Historium Exhibition (including the exhibition ‘The Wondrous Waterhalle’) and the panoramic terrace.
Panoramic terrace
From the panoramic terrace on the second floor, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Market Square of Bruges. The Market Square remains the beating heart of Bruges. The panoramic terrace is the ideal spot for a great photo opportunity.
Historium Exhibition
Following your visit to the Historium Story or after your visit to the Historium Tower, you will enter the Historium Exhibition. This interactive exhibition provides historical background on medieval Bruges and the painter Jan van Eyck. You will receive information about the architecture, the city map, and the city walls. Furthermore, you can see how historians and designers used the latest techniques to create the Historium Story.
